What are we fighting for?

[NL] Tijdens het correctief traject What Are We Fighting For? gingen we met Gentenaars en diverse kunstenaars op zoek naar manieren om ons – zowel verbaal als fysiek – uit te drukken. Om de moed te vinden om eerlijk te spreken én om met evenveel moed respectvol te luisteren.

In workshops, creatieve ontmoetingen en drie dagen intensieve cocreatie bouwden we samen een interactieve installatie die voorbijgangers uitnodigt om die dialoog zelf aan te gaan. Niet alleen met woorden, maar ook met gebaren, beweging en spel. De installatie is geen pasklaar antwoord, maar een uitnodiging: om te luisteren, te spreken, te voelen, te bewegen en misschien zelfs van perspectief te veranderen.

[EN] How do we really have conversations about topics that affect us—topics that sometimes make us angry or make us feel vulnerable? Safety, identity, conflict, cooperation, imagination… subjects that are often charged, yet ones we all share.

During the participatory project What Are We Fighting For? we worked with residents of Ghent and various artists to explore ways of expressing ourselves—both verbally and physically. To find the courage to speak honestly, and to listen respectfully.

Through workshops, creative encounters, and three days of intensive co-creation, we built an interactive installation together. This installation invites passers-by to engage in that dialogue themselves—not only through words, but also through gestures, movement, and play. It does not offer ready-made answers, but an invitation: to listen, to speak, to feel, to move, and perhaps even to change perspective.
