[NL] Paola Verhaert is een Brusselse onderzoeker en schrijver, en werkt al tien jaar op het snijvlak van technologie en sociale rechtvaardigheid. Als schrijver behandelt ze thema’s die verband houden met technologie, politiek en cultuur. In november verschijnt haar eerste boek, getiteld  ‘Technologie is politiek: De strijd voor digitale rechtvaardigheid’.

Als expert op het gebied van digitale rechten en digitale gelijkheid werkt ze samen met non-profitorganisaties en publieke instellingen. Daarnaast ondersteunt en adviseert ze organisaties omtrent het verantwoord gebruik van technologie en data.

[EN] Paola Verhaert is a Brussels-based researcher and writer. For the past ten years, she has been working on the intersection of technology and social justice. As a writer, she covers topics related to technology, politics and culture. Her first book, titled ‘Technologie is politiek: De strijd voor digitale rechtvaardigheid’, will be published in November 2025. This book is a philosophical and practical introduction to the concept of digital justice.
As an expert in the field of digital equity, she collaborates with non-profit organisations and public institutions. Additionally, she supports and gives advice to organisations on the responsible use of technology and data. 

[EN] Judith Zoë Blijden (1992) is a public philosopher who focuses on intimate technologies. She works at the intersection of research, policy, and art. She is the founder of Is This Art Maybe and the creator of The Digital Period, a philosophy project on autonomy and period apps. She transformed her research project into the podcast series The Digital Period, she invites a broad audience to reflect on what technology reveals about our human experience. Her aim is not only to inspire philosophical reflection but also to encourage people to align their actions with their insights. In addition she works as a senior legal consultant for Hooghiemstra & Partners, consultancy focussing on data protection. Previously, she served as a board member at Bits of Freedom and worked at the Dutch think tank Kennisland and the Social Economic Council of the Netherlands (SER).

[NL] Judith Zoë Blijden (1992) is filosoof en jurist. Met haar organisatie Is This Art Maybe onderzoekt ze de interactie tussen technologie en samenleving door middel van gezamenlijke filosofische verkenningen in denken en creëren. Als initiatiefnemer van het project The Digital Period ging ze in gesprek met gebruikers en ontwikkelaars van menstruatie-apps over hun impact op het dagelijks leven. Hoe werken deze apps? Sluiten ze aan bij de behoeften van gebruikers? Bevorderen ze autonomie en de mogelijkheid om beslissingen te nemen over je lichaam? De bijzondere gesprekken en haar bevindingen zijn gedeeld met een breed publiek via de podcast The Digital Period.

[EN] Maria Carmen Punzi is a PhD researcher and consultant. Since 2017, she has bridged the academic, non-profit, and corporate worlds to champion menstrual health as a critical yet overlooked component of gender equality. Her work has been published in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Management Studies, Contraception, and Women’s Health, as well as the first Handbook of Critical Menstruation Studies. She actively translates research into advocacy and social change, contributing to public debates on femtech, menstrual equity and reproductive rights. Her insights have been featured in national and international media, such as France24, Times Radio UK and AD.nl (Netherlands). As a consultant, Maria Carmen conducts research and advises organizations on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, (workplace) menstrual equity, and social impact evaluations. Her past clients include PwC, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Vodafone, and the Sanitation and Hygiene Fund (UN).

Sinds 2017 verbindt ze de academische, non-profit- en bedrijfswereld om menstruatiegezondheid te promoten als een cruciaal maar onderbelicht onderdeel van gendergelijkheid. Haar werk is gepubliceerd in toonaangevende wetenschappelijke tijdschriften, waaronder het Journal of Management Studies, Contraception en Women's Health, evenals het eerste Handbook of Critical Menstruation Studies. [EN] Dr. Anastasia Siapka a is an attorney at law (Greece), a research fellow at the KU Leuven Centre for IT & IP Law (Belgium), and a research affiliate at the Autonomy Institute (United Kingdom). Her research lies at the intersection of law, ethics and emerging technologies. Previously, Dr Siapka was a Research Foundation - Flanders (FWO) fellow and research associate at the KU Leuven Faculty of Law and Criminology, as well as a visiting researcher in philosophy and law at King’s College London and the University of Edinburgh, respectively. Beyond academia, she’s been a long-time advocate of equal and diverse representation in the IT industry. In 2025, Dr Anastasia Siapka was named a Rising Star in AI by the international organisation Women in AI Ethics.

[NL] Dr. Anastasia Siapka is advocaat (Griekenland), onderzoeker aan het KU Leuven Centre for IT & IP Law (België) en onderzoeksmedewerker aan het Autonomy Institute (Verenigd Koninkrijk). Haar onderzoek bevindt zich op het snijvlak van recht, ethiek en opkomende technologieën. Voorheen was dr. Siapka fellow bij het Fonds voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek - Vlaanderen (FWO) en onderzoeksmedewerker aan de Faculteit Rechtsgeleerdheid en Criminologie van de KU Leuven, alsook gastonderzoeker in filosofie en recht aan respectievelijk King's College London en de Universiteit van Edinburgh. Buiten de academische wereld is ze al lange tijd voorvechtster van gelijke en diverse vertegenwoordiging in de IT-sector. In 2025 werd dr. Anastasia Siapka door de internationale organisatie Women in AI Ethics uitgeroepen tot Rising Star in AI.
